Zipped purse!

I used my Robin piece to make this simple zipped purse!

Tweet, Tweet!

Today I have designed and made this little Robin free motion embroidery! I really love the handmade quality the free motion embroidery stitching gives to the piece and I am very pleased with my little Robin character!

My first fabric has arrived!!

My order from spoonflower.com arrived today! I love the bold and rich colours and I am very impressed with the quality of printing for such a great price! I think I over estimated the size of my pattern on the fabric though as I feel its a bit big! But I will be making something with it soon!!

Magpie!

I've whipped out my sewing machine today and created this small magpie applique using free motion embroidery!

Singer style!

I have just discovered the new limited edition Singer 160 released by Singer to celebrate their 160 years!
'Available for a limited period the Singer 160 is simple and easy to use with a bold design linking a proud history to modern Singer engineering.'
I LOVE the look of this machine, the real throw back to the now 'retro' style of the machines is so refreshing in a world filled with white, white and more white machines!

Gorgeous fabric..

I have just recieved a fat quarter of  'Elephants' from the Trade Winds collection by Lily Ashbury for MODA that I ordered off ebay! I love love love the lime green and turquoise colours used and cant wait to make something using this beautiful fabric!

A bit of inspiration!

I always feel inspired by vintage and retro fabrics and prints from the 60's and 70's, I love the bold and strong colours used, the use of repeat pattern and scale and the overall 'statement' that these fabrics make.
Here's a few bits and pieces I have found from across the Internet that I think are truly beautiful and inspiring!

Some 70s and 60s inspired patterns

WANELO!

So thanks to a helpul Etsyer I have discovered a really cool site 'Wanelo'. This site on first impressions is alot like Pinterest, you have your own profile, create collections (instead of boards)  and save items (instead of pinning them!)
What makes Wanelo (short for Want, Need, Love) special is that almost everything on it is for sale, this allows you to pin things you might actually buy and also allows you to upload your own pieces! Wanelo is also full of the unsual, interesting and weird! Its a fantastic sight for anyone interested in textiles, fashion, homewares, jellwery, design, etc etc and especially for those who love hoarding!!

Heres a quick mockup of a range of makeup pouches I am going to be making this week! I hope to use the same pattern appliqued on in a range of different colour ways! (My sewing machine decided to break half way through thus the dodgy sewing! the real ones will be much better!)
