New college project!

For the fashion project we were each given a colour, I was given brown, which at first I wasnt excited by, but after creating a few mood boards using found objects and drawing a few basic skirt designs I am loving the colour brown! Pics of my final mood board to the left!

First few page ideas ...

The final piece for this project is a book, I am therefore beginning to put my pages together using Photoshop!

As part of the 'booking a charity' art foundation project I decided to spend the afternoon doing some silk screen printing. The image I printed is a simple drawing I had drawn earlier in the project. As these prints are two colour ( black and a range of other colours) I had to created two silk screens to print from. I really love the effect of these pieces, however a couple of the black prints went a bit blotchy, due to the heavy canvas fabric I was using and the screen being slightly damp!

Art Foundation Project 'Booking a Charity'

Our first project in our specialist areas is titled 'Booking a Charity' for this project we had to go to a charity shop and find an object that we felt connected too, and also felt inspired by. The outcome of this project is a book, but we've been told we cant create a traditional book with ring binders.

The object I chose is a  white vase/candle holder with a print of townhouses along the base. From this object I have started looking at townhouses and cityscape's, and am focusing on Winchester buildings for my project.

Here's some of the pages from my sketchbook thus far! ...

A little taster...

I'm currently working on a project for my Art Foundation called 'Booking a Charity' ... I'll write more about it in my next post, but thought I'd just put a little taster up of what I'm doing!

Patterns everywhere!

I love how interesting surface patterns can be found everywhere, yet may go unnoticed if you're not looking for them!
I saw this simple yet effective pattern in Southbank centre in central London today!

New Years resolution #2...

I am adding a Spirograph set to my wish list for the new year!

...for both nostalgic and creative reasons!

Better late than never!..

Completely forgot to upload a picture of this years Christmas socks... gorgeous patterns, colours, and ever so cosy!

(Socks from Dorothy Perkins!)

Will be keeping a little bit of christmas alive all year round in these!

New Years resolution #1 ...

So I've decided that my first New Years resolution is to finally get some of my patterns digitally printed onto fabric!

I've found a company that print custom fabric for a very reasonable price ( from $16.20 per yard) which is around  £10.50 a yard! Plus they hold weekly fabric competitions, and once a member of the website you have the option of letting them sell your fabric design for you, with you getting around 10% of the price of sale..... not bad to get you started !

Cushion cover!

New Year, New projects!

After a busy Christmas and New years I thought I'd ease myself back in textiles and patterns.

I made this simple cushion in fabric I fell in love with. I love the retro and bold feel the print has, and I've even included a chunky gold button as a fastener!
