Makeup Bags!

This week I have been experimenting with box style makeup bags!
I have used lace zips on my makeup bags as I love the extra effect and texture that the lace brings!
I really love these bags and have experimented making them in lots of different patterned fabrics, from vintage floral fabric to my own digitally printed designs!

These bags are gradually being added to my new Ebay shop ...

Hot Water Bottle Covers!

I want to start expanding my 'homewares' range so this week I decided to try making hot water bottle covers!
I created two gorgeous covers from vintage bright floral fabrics.
I used a heavy weight fusible interlining on the back of the fabrics to give a nice weight and depth to the fabric, this also helps protect the user from the heat of the hot water bottle when first poured!

Using Iron on Vinyl

I really love the look of oilcloth fabrics and products however this is an expensive and specialist process! I began looking for possible ways of achieving a glossy, waterproof effect on my fabrics that I could do at home. I discovered 'iron on vinyl' and it literally does what it says on the tin!
Simply cut your vinyl to your desired size, peel off the backing paper, pop it on the fabric, then use the backing paper as a barrier between the vinyl and the iron and simply iron it on! Finally turn the fabric over and give it a quick iron on the other side too... and voila! shiny, waterproof fabric!
I made a little hanging pouch with my vinyl covered fabric pictured below!
